What is Holistic Health?

Holistic Health definition: holistic healing looks at the whole person, mind body and spirit.

In this post I want to focus on balancing the mind, body, and spiritual states of a person, so that they are in harmony together.

Why Holistic Health Is Important?

My definition of a healthy lifestyle was defined by eating healthy and regular exercise.

I never thought about my mental health, and if it could affect my physical health or vice versa.

Holistic health is used when a singular approach doesn’t work, and can be used  as an alternative to Western Medicine.

Holistic treatments can be used alongside going to see your doctor, and as a preventive measure.

Holistic health isn’t one dimensional. For example if a patient has a problem with constant headaches, holistic healing seeks to find the underlying issues.

Another example could be something not physical but emotional. A patient might be experiencing emotional problems, followed by suicidal idealisation.

In this case holistic healing would look al aspects of their current condition, social economical, environmental safety and family, friends support.

In this case treatment could be a combination of medicinal for severe depression, talk therapy, and nature therapy, as well as assessing their current dietary habits.

Holistic healing seeks to give the patient tools to manage or prevent their illness. In this way the patent isn’t reliant on service providers.

However if the patient needs further support, holistic healing can be a more sustainable less evasive form of treatment.

How to approach Holistic Health

Life can throw all sorts of curveballs, so remember that attaining balance is a journey.

Depending on the circumstances you’re in, your goals may be to achieve aesthetics, however once you become aware of holistic health, your goals will progressively change.

Attaining physical, mental, and emotional stability, will have positive side effects in all areas of your life. Inter-personal relationships, wellbeing, and  ones behaviour.

Again remember it’s a journey allows for growth, and to learn for yourself what works and what doesn’t.

This may mean yoga followed by a quick five minute guided meditation, (the length is up to yourself), or reading a spiritual texts and journaling.

Incorporating all three holistic aspects into your day would be great, but whichever you decide to practice during any given day is entirely up to you.

I would recommend incorporating it as consistently as you can to see the full benefits.

If you  have a bad day or make a mistake, don’t beat yourself up, even if you completely fall off the wagon. Remember there’s always tomorrow.

In Closure

I encourage you to see your doctor before implementing any advice given here.

Many people benefit from meditation or yoga, even if they don’t have pain or mental health to manage.

In this way they are using holistic health to improve or maintain their wellbeing.

Holistic health is about taking care of all aspects of your health, and getting to the underlying root of a problem, finding a long term solution, and preventing the symptoms from even happening.

I don’t think I could end this blog post without mentioning just how grateful I am for finding holistic health.

It has improved my wellbeing in ways I never could have imagined.

The more you experiment with holistic heath you’ll come to learn more about your body, and what works for you. Try different ideas and see what works best for yourself.

Do what makes you feel happy.
