How to Form Healthy Habits

We already know to exercise, eat heathy, and cook more meals from home.

So why do we struggle to maintain consistency?

Look let’s be frank, building healthy habits are difficult, and I am no master at consistent being consistent.

However below are tips that have helped me to build healthy habits.

Start With Why

Step 1: Find your Why.

Why do you want to start a healthy lifestyle? Why do you want to loose weight or gain weight.

Set Your INTENTION Towards Your Goal.

Write down your goals, then your reason why. This sets your intention towards your goal.

For example your goal might be to exercise four-fives times a week.

If you’re just beginning start with two days a week, or once a week, increase   it to three times a week over the next month.

Step 2: Recognise that building a new habit takes time, commitment, and consistency. These are skills we will acquire over time.

Step 3: Make it Easy.

Prepare your gym clothes the night before.

Home prep meals to last for the week or a few days.

Brain dump your errands for the week. This will free up your decision making time.

Step 4: Focus and Don’t Give Up.

You’re  never too old or young, overweight to make a healthy habit.

If you start off strong and have fallen off, don’t allow negative thoughts   to consumed your mind for too long, recognise you had a bad day or even week and get back to it.

My favourite quote from The Alchemist is, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon.’

Tough Love Speech:

If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

Giving up now won’t get you closer towards your goal. So with that being said have your time of being a Negative Nancy and then get back to crushing your goals.

Know that if you fall off you will get back up again, just give it some time and then get right back to it.

Focus on yourself and what you want, go back to your why ten times a day if you have. Focus helps us remember what we want to achieve, and how that will enhance our lives. How will that enhance your life, those around you, even a small amount of physical activity, and improving your nutrition.

Remember that FEELING of Self-Achievement and Success.

Step 5: Be Patient with Yourself.

Talk to a friend or a professional. This may help you get to your goals  and reach success quicker, as you’ve addressed any underlying issues, and change can feel easier.

Find different strategies that work for you, and remember change is a process.

If you fall off track, remember there’s tomorrow, Just Keep Moving Forward.

Step 6: Rest And Allow down time. All work and no play can make healthy habits hard to maintain. Take a breather, and set your intention for the flowing day.

Block out time for rest and reflection. Use this time for positivity and gratitude.

Being thankful that you have a healthy strong body, for being able to physically move your body in many forms, and planes, for having an intelligent brain that communicates to your nervous system.

Give back to your mind and body, as it gives so much to us.
